General Responsibilities: Fully responsible for all phases of growing select varieities of annuals and perennials as well as some shrubs and trees in our greenhouses and outdoor growing range.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
● Propagation: Executing propagation methods including cuttings and division of perennials.
● Cultivation: Maintaining optimum growing conditions for both annuals and perennials, under greenhouse and outdoor conditions.
● Irrigation and Fertilization: Monitoring soil moisture levels and implementing appropriate watering and fertilization schedules based on plant needs and repairs to the outdoor irrigation system as needed.
● Pest and Disease Management: Identifying and addressing pests and diseases using integrated pest management practices.
● Plant Health Monitoring: Regularly inspecting plants for signs of stress, disease, or nutrient deficiencies, taking corrective measures as needed.
● Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of planting, treatments, and growth patterns.
● Inventory Management: Collaborating on plant inventory and scheduling for production.
● Teamwork: Working effectively with other team members to ensure smooth operations.
● Maintaining Cleanliness: Keeping the growing areas clean and organized.
Qualifications:
● Horticulture training & experience in growing annual and perennial plants.
● Familiarity with integrated pest management practices.
● Understanding of plant nutrition and fertilization methods.
● Ability to operate and maintain irrigation and climate control systems.
● Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
● Physical ability to perform the job requirements, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
● Work in varying outdoor weather conditions with a go-getter attitude.
● Excellent organizational and time management skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Degree or certificate in horticulture or a related field.
● Have or willingness to obtain a Pesticide Applicators license.
